Roaring Water Jet Pump?
You don't use water supplied by the water company and you use only water jet pump that sucks water from a water reservoir near your home whether they are on the surface (lake, river) or from underground reserve. And your jet pump is now roaring in a constant, metallic, sad whining. Oh, what to do? Well, the solution is simple actually, and I have done it so many times (my jet pump is kinda old). The jet pump needs to drink, that whining is its request for drink. So, what to do? Well, open the jet pump cover (bottom left corner of the photo) till you can see the actual jet pum, pull out a plug on the right-hand part of the pump, put a funnel there, and pour water into that part till the pump cannot take it anymore. After the pump is full, pull out the funnel, plug back, and test the pump. If the whining still there, repeat the procedure. So why is the pump needs some drink? For many reasons, sometimes the jet pump plumbing suck up air, and creates bubble in the suction section of the pump. This bubble hinders the mobility of the water, and soon the pump gets minimum or no water coming into it. That whining is actually your jet pump motor working unhindered without the weight of water to pump upward. But a water pump motor working without water to pump upward will soon get broken. So the whining is your first sign that the pump requires your attention. |
